Mental Health is a real concern for students in schools today. Come join in on an interactive, experiential walk-through of youth mental health awareness activities designed for grade 7 classes in the VSB. ( Grade 6/7 classes can also be accommodated.) We will be introducing the newly digitized “Here4Peers Youth Mental Health Awareness Program”, which involves trained high school student ‘peers’ facilitating a fun and impactful workshop for grade 7’s ( including grade 6/7 classes) in their high school’s catchment area.
Participants will have an opportunity to see specific mental health activities in action, discuss calming skills, stigma, learn about mental health resources and apps designed to support youth.
Our newly produced Here4Peers mental health video for youth will also be highlighted in this session. Also included in this session will be an “Expert Youth Panel” made up of trained mental health high school youth facilitators.
1. Enrolling teachers of grade 7 students ( grade 6/7 teachers are also welcome)
2. Non-enrolling teachers and support staff working with grade 7 students
3. District staff supporting mental health for youth in schools
