This workshop addresses teaching social and emotional changes and sexual health as part of the PHE curriculum and Personal and Social Core Competencies, so foundational to student well-being. Growing Up: Teaching Sexual Health, is currently being updated to align with the new curriculum and SOGI inclusivity.

In Grades 4-7 bodies and minds are changing. During this exciting time, students need information and conversations about this topic taught in a comfortable, safe and not totally awkward way. You can do this, teachers! Help your students feel confident in taking care of themselves and being proud of who they are becoming. Topics will include:
- Media literacy
- Body Science
- Social and emotional changes
Biography: Jessy Wollen from Shift Education is a teacher, certified sexual
health educator and one of the primary contributors to the VSB curriculum Growing Up: Teaching Sexual Health. Through workshops, professional development trainings and resources, she forges the way for teachers, caretakers, parents and grandparents who want to learn how to talk to young people – including diverse learners – about sexuality without being weird about it.
