I am someone who supports a student who uses AAC. What does supporting a student who uses AAC mean to you? What does that look like in a busy, highly-structured day? Do you ever ask yourself, “Where is the time to work on communication with all of the other programs I am meant to be doing during the day!?” If you do, you may find this session to be useful. Please join us for an informative, interactive, and practical session where we discuss all things AAC implementation.
Gain practical strategies for supporting AAC users at school that will be helpful to all team members. There will be a brief review of AAC basics, visual support strategies, implementation, and goal setting. The day will include hands on activities and opportunities to start planning for your specific student. Free resources will be shared. This workshop is intended for teams who support students who use AAC. We strongly encourage participants to attend as a team (e.g. resource teacher, classroom teacher, SSAs, etc.) but individual team members are also welcome.
This is not a training on how to use or program a specific communication device. The strategies discussed will be applicable to all communication systems.
Audience: Staff supporting students who use AAC (e.g. resource teacher, classroom teacher, SSA)
