In light of the Provincial Health Authority’s directive regarding large gatherings, we will be postponing this workshop. Please stay tuned for future updates regarding workshops for Anti-Racism School Leads.
This workshop is open to Anti-Racism School Leads, and all other staff who are interested in exploring strategies to improve our school communities. We will discuss the procedures in responding to incidents involving racism (including the VALUE framework), and conflict resolution (ie through restorative justice). Emphasis will also be placed upon taking a preventative approach in order to promote safety, positivity, and empathy within student communities.
Participants will learn about resources available in the Diversity Toolkit, and will be given copies of insightful, yet practical articles that contextualize racism within an educational framework. The goal of these resources, and the training session as a whole will be to support educators in creating ‘culturally responsive’ classrooms and schools.
Dinner will be provided for after school sessions
Audience: Anti-Racism School Leads, and all other teachers/support staff
Presenter(s): Raman Gill (District Resource Teacher – Anti-Racism)
