Join this exciting new pro-d workshop to gain the confidence and skills you need to try out a biking, walking, or transit field trip with your Grade 4-7 class. HUB Cycling has been delivering active travel skills to VSB students, and now it’s time to put those skills to practice. Walking, cycling, and bussing field trips are a great way to take learning outdoors and connect with the neighbourhood, and there are emotional, social and physical benefits. They also happen to be low-cost and low-carbon!
Guest speakers from TransLink, the City of Vancouver Engineering and Bike to School Week will offer resources for you to take the next step - without a car. Participants will be encouraged to share their own tips and tricks for expanded discussions. Dress for the weather, as a portion of the workshop will occur outdoors. Lunch and refreshments will be provided; options will be available to select the week before the workshop.
This is the perfect expansion program to HUB’s Grade 6-7 active travel program “Ride the Road,” and is open to ALL teachers.
Location: Mount Pleasant Community Centre, Multipurpose Room 3
