Join Françoise from the CAM Team to explore Gillian Judson’s inspirational book, A Walking Curriculum: Evoking Wonder and Developing a Sense of Place. As we engage with Judson’s book, we will talk about what the ideas and activities in the book mean for learners and how they can inspire us to re-examine our own teaching practice.
In A Walking Curriculum, Judson challenges teachers to rethink their practice and take learning outdoors in order to support students’ wellbeing and their sense of place and community. The easy-to-use, developmentally appropriate, and child-centred activities in this book help to make curriculum topics relevant and engaging for all learners. The 60 activities have been carefully designed to engage our students’ emotions and imaginations while building their sense of wonder.
I am planning to hold 3 sessions of this book club. All participants will receive a copy of Judson’s book. Please note that receiving the book is an indication that you are committing to attending all book club sessions. These discussions will hopefully empower teachers to engage in more outdoor learning with their students, with CAM team support where necessary.
DATES: Three Wednesdays, April 5th & 26th, May 24th, 2023
