Join us for the first annual Experiential Learning and Sustainability Professional Development Day! Developed for teachers, by teachers. Learn from colleagues about the range of inspiring place-based, environmental, and sustainability related teaching practices throughout the District.
The morning will consist of a field experience of your choosing, followed by a community meal and several afternoon workshops to choose from at Tupper Secondary School.
Field experiences will be led by educators at the locations where they typically take their learners. You will get the chance to engage with the experiential activities they do with their students. Examples include an Indigenous Plant Walk in Comosun Bog, an adventure in Tatlow Park, and an exploration of Copley Orchard. More session choices will be added!
After your morning session, you will have time to travel to Tupper Secondary School for a community lunch. Sessions after lunch will be led by teachers and community partners, and will include themes such as school gardening, vermicomposting, Tupper’s rain garden project, enhanced recycling at school, climate change, and more!
Register now for the day, and you will be invited to select your sessions in late February.
