Emotional Regulation (ER) is our ability to manage/cope with are emotions/feelings. Its our ability to separate emotional responses to a problem from the thinking you must perform to resolve the problem. Autism often impacts a student’s ability to understand social information included there own emotions and the emotional state of others. This workshop will look at:

  • What is Emotional Regulation (What are emotions? Executive Functions and the impact on ER, Development of ER and dysregulation.)
  • How to teach Emotional Regulation (some strategies we will look at are 5 point scale, social behaviour mapping, stress lessons toolkit, Superflex.)
  • Teaching coping strategies
  • Final tips and the Anxiety curve
