Description
Supporting the Word Solving Skills of All Readers
With Havilah Jespersen

How do readers learn to take print off the page and decode words?
What can we do to help them learn this critical skill as efficiently as possible?

This practical session will help you answer these questions by taking a look at current research in this area and the implications for classroom instruction. Topics will include the role of phonemic awareness, phonics, building a bank of sight words, and teaching efficient word solving strategies for readers at different developmental stages.

Come and see how elements of your current literacy practice can be strengthened to support strong decoding skills in all students.
