Description
Reinforcement is a foundational evidence-based practice used to teach new skills, teach a replacement behaviour for an interfering behaviour, increase appropriate behaviours, or increase on-task behaviour. Reinforcement may seem straightforward, but it is often used incorrectly. All learners benefit from pairing the natural consequences of the skill or behaviour with additional reinforcers. This workshop will tackle the widespread misinformation around the harmful effects of reinforcement on intrinsic motivation and describe how reinforcement can be used more systematically in the classroom (e.g., group contingencies, token economies, contingency maps).
Registrants MUST attend both Level I (Sept. 24) and Level II (Oct. 22)
