WorkSafeBC introduced a Regulation in 2017 creating one day of mandatory training for all "new members" to a Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
A "new member" is defined as:
- Someone who has never previously served on an H&S Committee.
- Someone who has served on an H&S Committee in the past, however, has been away from it for over 2 years.
If you are a new member who has joined your H&S Committee this school year and have not yet attended this training, you are REQUIRED to attend this full day session.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Registration
After registering for the training, you will immediately receive a confirmation echoed back on your screen and the confirmation will be sent to your email account.** If this does not occur, please check that your java scripts are enabled or try registering with another browser. For further assistance, contact prodreg@vsb.bc.ca.
Require an EOC/TOC?
Record your absence in SFE, using Reason of Absence Code 166 - H&S Committee Training. If an EOC is required, select this option in SFE. This must occur in addition to this online registration.
Building Engineers/Head Custodians
Building Engineers/Head Custodians are also CORE members of the Worksite Health and Safety Committees. For Building Engineers/Custodians who have never served on the H&S Committee before this school year, please contact Operations at 604-713-5091 to arrange a date and replacement.
**A TEAMS calendar invite will be sent to registrants.
