Description
In this workshop series, consisting of two dinner sessions, participants will be introduced to effective instructional strategies and tips to get ELLs (and all students) engaged in learning.  This workshop series is geared for ALL teachers working with ELLs from kindergarten to grade 12 and is based on the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) model and the presenters' personal experiences working with ELLs.

In light of the Provincial Health Authority's directive regarding large gatherings, this workshop has been cancelled at this time.  Participants will be notified if we are able to reschedule.

Session 1 - Inclusive Practice: Behind the Scenes - Preparing Focused Lessons for ELLS

Note: Join us for this hands-on session on ways to develop effective lessons that feature both language and content. Learn ways to engage ALL your students, and in particular, your English Language Learners in the context of working with our new curriculum and walk away with some practical lesson plan ideas and language learning strategies to add to your ELL toolbox. Session 2 – Inclusive Practice Strategies: The Nuts and Bolts of Engaging Your ELLs
Date: Monday, April 27, 2020
Time: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Note: Strategies are the nuts and bolts of each lesson. They help keep your lessons together and they keep students excited about learning. Learn ways to scaffold instruction and promote higher order thinking with your ELLs. This session is all about sampling some tried and true strategies that engage and assist ELLs in accessing the curriculum. Join us in adding a few more strategic tools to your ELL Toolbox! Dinner will be provided.
