Title Mind-Body Heart Communication (Jan 17)
Year 2021/2022
Subject Area Employee Wellness
Audience Group All Staff
Open to external participants? No
Description
We will explore mindfulness of our mind, body and heart during an exploration of wholehearted vulnerable communication. This practice is based on David Bohm’s “Dialogue”.

The primary practice of Dialogue or Mind Body Heart Communication (MBHC) is to give primacy to the processes, feelings and thoughts occurring in the mind, body and heart. This means to report to the group what is happening within the mind’s contents and the body’s sensations, as well as our heart sense, rather than a back and forth conversation.

The practice can be quite discontinuous in terms of what the participants share rather than the typical back and forth conversation we normally engage in. Periods of silence are quite common. The key is to share the processes happening within you rather than the content of what is happening or sharing the story or our typical responses.

The insights gained by observing our habitual ways of interacting and sharing them can be amazingly transformative. No experience is necessary just the willingness to be open, vulnerable and mindful.

Thomas C. Hicks will give instructions and examples or the practice before the session commences and may give some direction during as well.
